Dave Hultsch

May 22, 2016 Drum Instructor

Dave is an accomplished drummer. He started playing at a very young age, and has 14 years of teaching experience.  Having taught students of all ages, he believes that anyone can learn an instrument by having the interest, a willingness to learn, and dedication. Dave teaches sight-reading of rhythm patterns using several different drum books. It is through these books the student will learn snare work, drum beats, as well as drum fills.  All of this study leads up to the student learning song structure, and ultimately learning their first song. Dave is fluent in current music genres and bands. He enjoys teaching all styles of drumming to his students and his hope is that students will take the fundamentals and make the music their own.

Dave and his brother Tom co-founded a band in 1998 called Gypsy Fly. Since then his band has had success on many levels. They have released many full-length albums, and several singles from the albums have received airplay on the Q101, 94.7 The Zone, and Fearless radio. They have had music videos played on JB TV, and done several on air performances.  Gypsy Fly has also garnished success through the Chicago media, Internet, and the band has played many venues in the Chicago land area. Some of those include the Metro, House of Blues, Double Door, and Elbow Room. Gypsy Fly may be seen at various fests in the area and in Milwaukee, WI. The band also won a Billboard honorable mention award for one of their singles ranking in the top 1500 singles in a world songwriting contest.
