About Us

Established in 1982, A & A Music Academy provides private music instruction to all ages by professional musicians.  Degreed faculty members teach everything from beginning music skills to advanced classical and jazz improvisation techniques.  We teach piano, organ, keyboards, accordion, guitar, voice, drums, band and orchestral instruments.  Piano tuning and repair service is also provided to the community by their expert piano technicians.

The reputation of the school is one of quality instruction and careful attention to each individual student.  Recitals are given regularly at a local church.  A & A Music Academy is a member of the Illinois Music Association and participates in their annual competition as well as other area competitions each year.

Our Company History

Komorski Family 271The school opened in 1982 in a 1400 square foot location in Schaumburg’s Salem Plaza. The faculty consisted of Don and Anita and the students totaled about 40 per week. Within a few months the faculty had increased to 8 and the school had over 200 students per week. Anita, the administrator of the school, contacted the Hanover Park, Bartlett, Streamwood, and Hoffman Estates Park Districts and offered to teach piano programs for them. The group programs became very popular at all locations and are still maintained today.

MPT Apps 2012 27As the school increased in size, it was relocated to a larger facility in Hoffman Estates on Hassell Road. There it grew to a size of about 550 students per week with a faculty of 18 teachers. A & A Music also began selling instruments and renting band and orchestral instruments to school aged children. The retail side of the business was very helpful in providing all materials necessary for the music student.

In December, 1993 it became apparent that in order to provide quality instruction at a quality facility the school would need its own building and the school was closed, temporarily. A building was purchased in the Hanover Park Historical District and was renovated to include 6 studios, a waiting room area, and a shop area for piano repairs. The new location opened in December 1995.
Today the studio handles 16 faculty members and over 350 students per week. With four park districts programs feeding into the school, the enrollment continues to grow.

Don & Anita purchased the adjacent building to the west in 1997 and founded the Ontarioville Art Center. The focus of the art center is art instruction, and a local artist gallery to promote education in art mediums, and the talent of the local artistic community. OAC currently has 2 quality professional instructors that teach multiple mediums to beginners through advanced levels. We are happy to be the only music and art campus in the area, and look forward to our continuing growth.

We are sorry to share that Don Komorski passed away on 8/28/21.  Please read about his life here.
