About A & A Music & Art Academy

A & A Music & Art Academy, 2025 winner of Best Music School in DuPage County by Google Business Rate, and Hanover Park’s 2025 Business of the Year awards, is a beloved Hanover Park institution offering private music lessons and art classes for students of all ages. Founded in 1982, our academy is guided by a caring, degreed faculty who are passionate about helping you grow as a musician or artist. We also provide professional piano tuning and repair services to the community.

Our Journey

In 1982, Anita and Don Komorski opened A & A Music Academy in Schaumburg’s Salem Plaza with just 40 students. Within months, demand grew rapidly, and we expanded to eight instructors and over 200 weekly students. Wanting to create a space dedicated to learning, we purchased and renovated a historic building in Hanover Park’s Historical District, reopening in 1995. Today the studio has 15 faculty members and serves over 350 private students per week and continues to grow.

In 1997, we expanded into the visual arts by founding the Ontarioville Art Center next door. Over time, our art program flourished, offering drawing, watercolor, clay, and more to students of all skill levels. In 2023, we officially merged music and art under one roof, forming A & A Music & Art Academy, a true hub for creative expression in the community.

Continuing its legacy, the academy remains committed to providing individualized attention, hosting regular music recitals, and participating in competitions through the Illinois Music Association. With a strong reputation and ongoing growth, the academy looks to the future with plans to further enrich its programs and community involvement.

OUR BEGINNINGS

Our musical origins began with the establishment of A & A Music Academy in 1982, where we provided private music instruction to all ages by professional musicians. Our artistic offerings were formed in 2005 with the creation of the Ontarioville Art Center.

To better serve the community, we have combined our passion for art and music education under one name - A & A Music & Art Academy.

Community Partnerships

Since 1982, A & A Music & Art Academy has been proud to partner with our local park districts to make music education accessible to families throughout the community. What began with programs in Hanover Park and Hoffman Estates soon expanded to Bartlett and Carol Stream, allowing us to share the joy of music with even more students.

Our seasonal “mini group” classes—limited to just two students—provide the perfect balance of personal attention and the fun of learning together. Students ages 6 through teens can explore piano, guitar, or drums in a relaxed, encouraging environment. Registration takes place directly through your park district, and each student may take the basic class once before continuing with private lessons at the academy. It’s a wonderful way to build confidence, develop foundational skills, and discover a love of music.
