PRIVATE MUSIC LESSONS FOR THE YOUNG & THE YOUNG AT HEART

OUR STORY: A & A MUSIC & ART ACADEMY

Established in 1982, A & A Music Academy has provided private music instruction to all ages by degreed professional musicians.   Faculty members teach everything from beginning music skills to advanced classical and jazz improvisation techniques.  We teach piano, organ, keyboards, guitar, voice, drums, band, and orchestral instruments.  Piano tuning and repair service is also provided to the community by our expert piano technician.

The school opened in Schaumburg's Salem Plaza with Anita & Don Komorski and 40 students.  Within a few months the faculty had increased to 8 and the school had over 200 students per week.  Anita, the administrator of the school, contacted the Hanover Park, Bartlett, Carol Stream, and Hoffman Estates Park Districts and offered to teach piano programs for them.  The group programs became very popular at all locations and continue today.

As the school increased in size, and in December 1993 it became apparent that to provide quality instruction at a quality facility the school would need its own building. A building was purchased in the Hanover Park Historical District.  It was renovated and reopened in December 1995.  Today the studio has 14 faculty members and over 350 private students per week and continues to grow.  The reputation of the school is one of quality instruction and careful attention to each individual student.  A & A Music Academy is a member of the Illinois Music Association and participates in their annual competition as well as other area competitions each year.

Don & Anita purchased the adjacent building to the west in 1997 and founded the Ontarioville Art Center.  The focus of the art center is providing art instruction to all that would like to learn. Currently the drawing lessons are taught by two dedicated artists offering quality professional instruction in multiple mediums to beginners through advanced levels.

In Spring 2023, Ontarioville Art Center and A & A Music Academy were combined to create A & A Music & Art Academy.  This new name exemplifies what we do for the community and how we continue to grow.  We hope you will join the A & A family and bring out the musician and artist that is in all of us.

PARK DISTRICT MUSIC LESSONS

A & A Music & Art Academy has brought music to the community with the help of area park districts since 1982. Piano programs began with Hanover Park and Hoffman Estates Park Districts, and since the move to our current location in 1995, Bartlett and Carol Stream Park Districts have been added. The piano program consists of fall, winter, spring, and summer group class programs for up to four students. The small class size allows individual attention for each student as well as the experience of playing within a group situation, making for a better understanding of rhythm and music’s basic skills. Ages range from 6 years old through teens. Classes in guitar and drums are also available, so check your park district for details and registration. Each of the 45-minute classes are great fun for students. They teach music basics, are designed for beginners, and are a great way to introduce your child to playing a musical instrument.
