Craig Elliott

Craig began studying guitar at the age of 6 with various instructors. He studied a variety of styles including classical, jazz, rock, blue grass, and country.  He got his start as a performer at Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH in 1995, and later worked for the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line and Bush Gardens in Virginia as a guitarist. He’s performed with various artists such as Nel Carter, Lee Greenwood, The Platters, and many more.  Craig came to Chicago in 1997 to work as a musician and guitar instructor, performing with many local Jazz projects as well as Rock bands. In 1998, while Don was tuning his sister’s piano, Don had the chance to play a song or tow with Craig, and an instant bond was formed.  He joined the faculty in 1998. Craig uses various methods in his teaching, including Mel Bay, Christopher Parkening, and others, also providing expert instruction in various genres including: Rock, Jazz, Classical, Jazz improvisation, and music theory.  His goal for his students is for them to learn to read music and understand theory so that they are prepared for any musical situation.
