Carolín Garabán

May 22, 2016 Violin, Viola, & Piano

Carolin knows how important it is for a musician to have knowledge of the piano.  She began her study at age 7 on the piano at the José Luis Paz Conservatory of Music in her hometown of Maracaibo, Venezuela.  Later, she was invited to study violin in Odessa, Dankevich, Ukraine where she graduated in 1999.  She returned to Venezuela to teach and was a member of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Maracaibo.  She immigrated to the USA in 1997, and continued teaching private lessons and playing as a freelance violinist.  She is fluent in English, Spanish, and Russian languages.  Ms. Garabán believes all students should understand the piano, and works with her string students to familiarize them with the basics of music theory as well as the more advanced skills of the piano. She also works with intermediate and advanced string and pianists on their skills in order to understand the process and foundation of music.  She enjoys working with all ages, and prepares her students well for performances.  She joined the Fox Valley Philharmonic Orchestra in 2009 and is the Concertmaster.  She joined our faculty in June 2015, and has been a wonderful addition to the staff, teaching private piano, violin, viola, and also group beginner’s classes in piano.
